Book Spotlight: Doodle and Peck by Marla F. Jones
Doodle Pig and Peck Rooster, two farmyard residents, crash into each other in their rush to attend Camelia Cow’s birthday party. Their gifts are thrown into the air, land in the dirt, and are ruined. Or are they?Duck, Horse, and Cat help Doodle and Peck discover that if they cooperate, they can create a new, even better, birthday gift. At the party, Camelia admires their gift, a book of fairy tales. This encourages Doodle and Peck to collaborate on another book, “sure to be a winner.”

About Author Marla F. Jones
Marla F. Jones has read thousands of children’s books. Literally. As a first-grade teacher, story time was her favorite part of the day. As a writer, Jones has authored four picture books—Ponder Learns to be Thankful, Let’s Follow Them, We’re Counting on Noah’s Ark, Doodle and Peck, and The Night the Mice Sang. As an artist, she has illustrated five. She uses a colorful mix of media, papers, fabrics and found objects, and layers them to create texture and dimension to her folk-art style.
Jones is a member of the Oklahoma Writers Federation. She currently owns Doodle and Peck Publishing, where she pairs up talented authors and illustrators to make fun, educational, family-friendly books.
