Book Review: Legion (Dark in You, #11) by Suzanne Wright

As I opened the audiobook of Legion, the eleventh and final installment in Suzanne Wright’s Dark in You series, I couldn’t help but feel a swirl of nostalgia. After eight years of immersing myself in Wright’s captivating world, it felt bittersweet knowing it was coming to an end. I remember starting this journey filled with strong and crazy heroines, and dangerously loveable heroes, so I dove in with a mix of excitement and melancholy.

Legion introduces us to Naomi, a fiery new character who instantly feels like she’s always belonged in this universe. She carries her secrets with a grace that makes her one of Wright’s strongest female leads yet. I found myself deeply invested in her story, not only due to her intrigue but also because of her relationships with her family and friends. As a reader, I’d do just about anything to witness her evolution alongside Luka.

Speaking of Luka, he is the quintessential brooding hero—with an added twist. A crime syndicate boss who harbors three inner demons—Dagon, Abraxas, and Belial—his complexity is fascinating. He’s also tied to Ella, a beloved character from Book 10, and I loved finally getting the chance to delve deeper into his backstory. While I craved a bit more exploration of his criminal world, the chemistry between him and Naomi was palpable, captivating me as their paths dramatically intertwined when Naomi’s ex started stalking her. Their banter turned into moments filled with protectiveness, love, and a sprinkle of humor that had me chuckling out loud.

The action was, as always, thrilling. Wright has a knack for creating intricate plots that keep you on the edge of your seat. Yet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that the world-building and plot resolution didn’t quite hit the heights of previous books. Though the narrative was detailed, it lacked that extra spark I had come to anticipate. I wanted a more unforgettable farewell to this incredible cast of characters I had grown to love deeply—not just Naomi and Luka, but all those familiar faces from previous books.

Despite my disappointment in the concluding threads, I find myself cherishing the myriad of moments that will stay with me. It was wonderful to revisit familiar characters while being introduced to new dynamics. I even hold out hope for Asher’s story someday!

Overall, I would say Legion retains that special Dark in You magic, perfect for long-time fans eager to see familiar faces, but perhaps it may leave some new readers wanting more. With its intense themes of violence, crime, and resilience, this book certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted.

To my fellow readers who have followed this journey with me, if you love fierce heroines, complex heroes, and a world brimming with darkness and light, this series—and especially Legion—is a must-read. While it may not feel like the glorious finale we all hoped for, it’s still a beautiful tribute to the characters we’ve come to adore.
