Then there’s Nolan—an intriguing mix of war hero and reluctant protector, hardened by a painful past that weighs heavily on him. His “hot and cold” nature keeps the chemistry simmering, leading to fiery exchanges and palpable tension between them.

While I adored the tension and buildup—arguably my favorite part—it’s worth noting that readers who crave explicit scenes might find themselves a tad disappointed, as there’s only one steamy encounter. However, I truly believe the lack of frequent sex scenes enhances the suspense and keeps the reader invested in the emotional journey.
I did have a small quibble with the villain’s madness towards the end; it felt a touch over-the-top for my taste. And honestly, I had to chuckle at Nolan’s nickname for his anatomy—calling it "Skippy" was just a miss for me!
